Kolkata Lime - Watercolour - 18.5” x 11.5”

I visited the vibrant and chaotic city of Kolkata, India, with its bustling streets and unique blend of cultures. As I wandered through the city, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between the grime and poverty of the streets and the stunning beauty that could be found in unexpected places. One such place was a small lime stand, nestled in the midst of the chaos.

In my watercolour painting, I wanted to capture this contrast and highlight the beauty that can be found in even the most unexpected of places. I painted the bustling streets of Kolkata with all their chaos and grime, but I juxtaposed this with the serene beauty of the lime stand, which stood out like a beacon of hope amidst the chaos.

Through my painting, I hoped to bring attention to the beauty that exists in the middle of poverty and remind viewers that even in the darkest of places, there is always hope and light to be found.
